The Gyrotonic® Expansion System:

Is comprised of two exercise methods GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS®. Both designed by Julio Horvath a former professional dancer.

  • GYROTONIC® exercises are performed on equipment that was especially designed for its movement base.

  • GYROKINESIS® exercises are performed on a stool and graduate to a mat. Both movement methods compliment each other.  Both were created to improve balance, strength and flexibility.


This movement method has roots in Yoga, Tai Chi, Gymnastics and Dance.

GYROTONIC® circular and spiral movement patterns flow one into the next allow for a more organic transition on the body and the joint bed. Julio Horvath designed his equipment around a persons natural movement patterns. Coordinating ones breath with how the body moves naturally helps the student to create better space and energy in their body; this in turn leads to fewer restrictions and an overall better sense of well-being.
